Woman, 54, dead following apartment fire in Media

MEDIA, Pa. (WTXF) - One woman is dead following an overnight apartment fire in Delaware County.

Crews responded to the unit block of Ridge Road in Media just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The blaze broke out at a first-floor apartment within a two-story duplex.

A 54-year-old woman was found dead inside the apartment following the fire. Police have yet to identify the deceased.

A second-floor resident was able to escape the building safely.

Two Media police officers and two Upper Providence Township officers were treated for smoke inhalation and released from local hospitals.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
