Woman charged in boyfriend's death, dismemberment

Deputies in Sumter County, Florida have arrested a woman, accused of killing her boyfriend and keeping his body in a camper at another location for months.

Detectives with the Melbourne Police Department in Brevard County discovered the dismembered body of Anthony Franklin Mitchell, 55, inside the camper trailer at Wickham Park Campground. The cause of death was subsequently determined to be homicide, due to blunt force trauma.

Investigators said Mitchell moved to the Lake Panasoffkee RV Village in Sumter County in early August 2018 and was living with his girlfriend, Penny Rebecca Pospisil, 47. The victim's family last spoke with him on August 22, and it was shortly after that time that detectives learned that Pospisil had started informing others that Mitchell had passed away, detectives said.

Melbourne police officers said Pospisil moved the camper trailer from Sumter County to Brevard County, near the end of September 2018, after which time witnesses reported a foul odor coming from the camper.

Detectives from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office worked in a coordinated effort with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office to conduct surveillance on Pospisil and found cause to take her into custody.

Pospisil was booked into the Brevard County Jail, where she is being held without bond. She is facing charges of second-degree murder and abuse of a dead human body.
