Woman in critical condition after South Philadelphia hit-and-run
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Police are investigating a hit-and-run that happened Friday evening in South Philadelphia.
The incident occurred on Wharton Street where it intersects with 9 th Street at 5:17 p.m.
According to police, Unit #1 - a 2007 Dodge Charger - was driving east on Wharton, crossing 9 th when it came into contact with a pedestrian. The operator of the vehicle is a 33-year-old male.
It then continued eastbound, striking Unit #3 - a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder - in the rear; the vehicle was parked and unattended.
Unit #3 was pushed into Unit #4 - a 1998 Nissan Maxima - which was also parked and unattended.
Unit #3 came to rest on the sidewalk and suffered heavy damage along with Unit #1.
Unit #4 suffered minor damage.
The pedestrian suffered internal injuries, broken bones, and head trauma consistent with being hit by a vehicle. She was taken to Jefferson Hospital.
The 33-year-old driver of Unit #1 suffered a medical condition - possibly a seizure - prior to the accident. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital, treated, and released.
The pedestrian is in critical condition.
