Woman injured, robbery suspect at large after police pursuit ends in fiery crash

Police in North Philadelphia are continuing to search for a suspect who ran from the scene of a crash after allegedly leading police on a chase.

Police say four men robbed a woman of her backpack just before 9 p.m. Thursday night on North 7th Street.

The suspects drove off in a black car but were spotted by police and a chase ensued. The suspects' vehicle later crashed in front of a church at Broad and Allegheny and caught fire after police say they ran a red light and were hit by an oncoming SUV.

A woman who was sitting on the steps of the porch was injured, and three of the four suspects were taken into custody. The injured woman's condition is unknown at this time.

Police say they recovered a weapon, as well as the money that was taken.
