Woman shot 9 times in South Philadelphia; another victim hospitalized

Two women are in the hospital after a shooting in a popular area in South Philadelphia Thursday night.

The shooting occurred on South Broad Street near Catharine Streets around 9.pm.

A 42-year-old woman was shot nine times and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say a 27-year-old woman also suffered a graze wound to her head and was hospitalized.

Witnesses tell FOX 29 they heard fighting before hearing multiple gunshots.

Police say they have not found the weapon or the shooter at this time, but say the 42-year-old victim appears to have been the target. The 27-year-old victim appears to have been an innocent bystander, investigators say.
