Woman shot in back during home invasion in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A woman is in critical condition, and a teenage suspect is in custody after police say the woman was shot by a suspect during a home invasion in North Philadelphia.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning at a home on the 3000 block of North 23 rd Street.

Police say the 37-year-old woman was running down the stairs trying to get away from the suspect and out of the home when she was shot in the back.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody, according to investigators.
