Woman's body found on beach in Ocean City, Maryland

OCEAN CITY, Md. - A woman's body was found on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland early Monday morning, according to officials.

Beachgoers reported discovering the body around 2nd Street at about 6:30 a.m., police said.

They alerted Ocean City police shortly after and officers responded to the scene. Detectives said the woman was identified as 30-year-old Ashley O'Connor of Plano, Texas.

O'Connor's body was removed from the sand at about 4:15 p.m. to be evaluated by the medical examiner's office.

Detectives said their investigation was ongoing.
