Woman's body recovered after Sea Isle City fire; 2 hurt

Authorities in Sea Isle City, New Jersey have recovered the body of an elderly woman who was reported missing after a massive fire severely damaged three homes.

The fire in Sea Isle City broke out shortly before noon Thursday, sending large plumes of thick, black smoke into the air.

The Cape May County prosecutor's office said in a statement Thursday that a woman in her 80s was missing following the fire. Friday, authorities found the body of Marie Zielinski, 89, in her apartment.

Elizabeth Coleman, 56, and Roy Lombardo, 60, were also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Authorities believe the fire started in a home and soon spread to two duplexes, which are about two blocks from the ocean. The home where the blaze started was destroyed, while the other structures were severely damaged.

The cause is under investigation.
