Woodbridge mother accused of chaining disabled son to bed

A woman from Woodbridge has been charged with abduction and felony child neglect after police discovered she was allegedly chaining her disabled 17-year-old son to his bed at night.

A third party initially alerted Child Protective Services about the conditions at the home of Paulette Renee Weston, 40, of the 13500 block of Wood Street and police were contacted.

Weston was arrested on Tuesday, March 15 and is being held without bond. The boy was secured to his bed some evenings and nights with a chain and rope, according to officials.

His bedroom windows were also boarded up and the door had a deadlock preventing the victim from leaving the room, officials said.

No injuries were reported and the victim was released to the custody of family members.
