Eagles Beat Giants 27-7, Reach First Place in NFC East

The Eagles Monday night took another big step back from their 1-3 start, defeating the New York Giants 27-7 for their third victory in four games. The win puts the Eagles in first place in the NFC East.

Despite the lopsided final score it was something of an ugly game, with Birds quarterback Sam Bradford throwing three interceptions and the two teams combining for more than 20 penalties. However, the Giants failed to capitalize on any of the turnovers, and aside from a touchdown on the game's first series, the Eagles' defense held New York scoreless.

"I think our defense, the rush, the ability to get to [QB] Eli [Manning], which is difficult, and going into this, they had only given up a short amount of sacks and they had only turned the ball over not very much either," Coach Chip Kelly said in the post-game press conference.

Following the win the Eagles will have their work cut out for them: Next week they play another prime time game, on Sunday night against the undefeated Carolina Panthers.
