The Buffalo Bills made a statement via Twitter late Monday morning regarding reports surrounding running back LeSean McCoy, who is currently on their team roster. McCoy previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia Police have acknowledged that McCoy was present at the bar that night, but have not specified if he played a role in the incident.
The incident occurred at a nightclub located on the 100 block of South 2 nd Street on Sunday at 2:45 a.m. The two victims, both 40-year-old, black, male off-duty Philadelphia Police officers, were inside.
An argument over the ownership of a bottle of champagne took place, which led to pushing and shoving at which point police say all four suspects engaged in a physical altercation with the first victim. He was then punched and knocked to the ground.
According to officials, the man was punched, kicked, and stomped about his body and head multiple times by all four suspects.
The second victim and security guards intervened and broke up the attack and then all parties were removed from the club.
The first victim took himself to the hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his right eye, broken nose, broken ribs, and a sprained thumb.
The second victim was admitted to the hospital where he received eight stitches over his left eye and is currently receiving treatment for a possible skull fracture.
The four suspects were identified through photographs by the victims and security guards.
The suspects are described as four black males, two 27-year-olds, a 26-year-old, and a 30-year-old.
Officials say that the suspects are reported to be members of the NFL.
Police were reportedly not called to the scene, according to sources. Also, it is unclear if the off-duty officers identified themselves as police.
Police reports were filed after the incident. FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reports that it is being investigated as aggravated assault because of the injuries incurred, however no charges have been filed yet.
