New Ben in Town: Sixers take Simmons #1 in NBA Draft

You read that right! There's a new Ben in town!

The Philadelphia 76ers have selected Ben Simmons with their number 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Simmons, the highly touted prospect, spent a single year at Louisiana State University before making the jump to the NBA.

The Australian born Simmons, stands 6'10" and was listed as a power forward in college, though most believe he can play a number of positions at the NBA level.

Simmons worked out for the team privately on Tuesday.

Draft night is what the Sixers (10-72) have built -- or rather, destroyed -- for over the last three seasons. They've absorbed two losing streaks of at least 26 straight games and have lost at least the first 17 games each of the last two seasons.

Simmons, moved to Florida for three years of high school at Montverde Academy, averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists this season with LSU.

76ers Head Coach Brett Brown coached Simmons' father, Dave, for four years of pro ball in Australia and knows the family well.
