Temple Beats Tulane 49-10 in Homecoming Matchup

The Temple Owls have advanced to 5-0 after a homecoming victory over the Tulane Green Wave.

Temple got off to a slow American Athletic Conference matchup got off to a slow start, before the Owls erupted to score 49 points in the contest.

Defense remained key to the Owl's game plan as the veteran group held Tulane to just 10 points, shutting the Green Wave out in the second half.

Quarterback P.J. Walker completed 11 of 15 passes for 183 yards and threw a touchdown to Robby Anderson and his former high school teammate Jahad Thomas.

Thomas, who has been Temple's star in the backfield so far this season finished with 54 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown.

True freshman running back Ryquell Armstead punched in two scores on the ground and ran for 47 yards on 16 carries.

Sophomore defensive back Sean Chandler intercepted a pass from Tulane quarterback Tanner Lee, and ran it back for a score in a third quarter that included two other Temple Touchdowns.

Lee finished the game with 95 yards on 16 completions with a touchdown and two interceptions.

The Owl's next challenge will come at Lincoln Financial Field next Saturday when they take on another American conference foe in the Knights of the University of Central Florida at 7:30 p.m.
