Area schools announce closures, delays due to wintry conditions

A number of schools have announced closings and delays Tuesday due to wintry conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Berks, Lehigh, Western Montgomery and Upper Bucks counties starting Monday at 7 p.m. until Tuesday afternoon.

The system will bring overnight snow, sleet and freezing rain. The storm is expected to impact the Tuesday morning commute. By Tuesday night, ice is expected to linger north of I-95 before changing to rain.

Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency for New Jersey ahead of the winter storm. The state of emergency goes into effect at midnight Tuesday.

The Lehigh Valley and Poconos is expected to see 3-6 inches of snow. The Philadelphia area is expected to see 1-3 inches. The system is forecasted to be a mainly rain event down the shore.
