Excessive heat warnings and advisories in effect Thursday

The heat index will likely reach triple digits for most of the Philadelphia area with temperatures feeling like 105 degrees for some.

Thursday's high is expected to reach 95 degrees, but could come close to tying the record of 98 degrees that was set back in 1994. As long as we get over 90 degrees, today will officially mark another heat wave.

An excessive heat warning will be in effect for parts of our area from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

There's a marginal risk of severe or strong thunderstorms and heavy downpours later in the day, as some storms move through the western part of the state.

Weekend temperatures will be a little more pleasant with highs in the 80s. A Friday cold front will bring lower humidity through the weekend, but may also bring some showers and thunderstorms in the process.
