7-Year-Old Boy Who Was Shot Asks Santa Claus For Help Tracking Down His Attackers

(INSIDE EDITION)- A young British boy who was shot in the leg is asking Santa Claus to help track down the gunman who hurt him.

A seven-year-old boy who was shot in the leg in Salford has written a letter to Santa asking him to help find the people...

Christian Hickey made the heart-wrenching plea in a handwritten letter to St. Nick, which was shared on Facebook by Greater Manchester Police.

"Help police catch the people who hurt me," was his top request to Santa.

The youngster also put walkie-talkies, a remote-controlled helicopter and a PlayStation game on the list, which he illustrated with a smiling picture of Santa and one of his elves.

Christian is recovering at home in Salford after the October 12 attack. His mom, Jayne, had opened the front door to two men asking for Christian's father, according to the Press Association. After exchanging words, one of the two men fired several times at close range.

Christian was hit once in his left leg and his 30-year-old mom was hit twice in her legs, police said. They underwent multiple surgeries and are now recovering at home.

In the Facebook post sharing Christian's letter, Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said the attackers "have absolutely no place in civilised society."

"It is heart wrenching to know that a little boy who should be writing a list filled with exciting gifts, has got this at the top of his Christmas list," he said.

"What happened to Christian will stay with him for the rest of his life but what we can do is try to make this up to him by finding those responsible and bringing them to justice."

Detectives said the shooting could be linked to the murder of gangland security boss nearby in July and a feud between rival gangs, which is believed to be the cause of at least five shootings.

An investigation into the shooting of Christian and his mom is still underway and police are asking members of the public to come forward with anything they may know.
