ACCT Philly waives adult dog adoption fees for December

Thanks to the generosity local veterinarian Joan Capuzzi, V.M.D, the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) has waived adoption feeds for adult dogs for the entire month of December.

"It breaks my heart that healthy dogs in Philadelphia are being euthanized because people are buying dogs…they just need to realize the dogs truly in need of rescue are in their own backyard at ACCT Philly," Capuzzi said.

A Philly native, dog lover and mother of two has been a veterinarian in the area for 20 years.

"And every day I see people bringing in puppy mill dogs, often inbred from Lancaster County, as well as young dogs from southern states that have been passed off as 'rescues,'" Capuzzi said.

As an open admission animal shelter contracted by the city to perform animal control, ACCT Philly is required to accept and provide services to over 23,000 animals that come through its doors every year.

ACCT Philly hopes to win over would-be pet buyers, and reduce its annual euthanasia rate further, by promoting the adoption of the loving pets in their care.
