Alligator, dog found severely mistreated in Delaware County home

Humane officers acting on a tip made a surprising discovery in Delaware County.

Justice Rescue discovered a four-foot long alligator swimming in a bathtub in a basement in Chester.

It happened in the 200 block of 21st Street.

Justice Rescue founder Russell Harper told FOX 29 News the gator was found in deplorable conditions.

"They'd already taped up his mouth and we know they can't eat with a taped-up mouth, so I don't know the last time he ate," Harper said. "To pull open a cover and hear that hissing was chilling."

They also found a dog in an enclosed box on the property. A veterinarian with Aardvark Animal Hospital said the dog was starved and needs multiple blood transfusions.

A second dog was found at the home, as well.

All of the animals are in the care of veterinarians now.

Justice Rescue is looking for donations to help nurse the animals back to health.

They hope to place the alligator with a wildlife sanctuary or rescue.
