Brother killed, second wounded in officer-involved shooting

Authorities say a shooting involving an off-duty Trenton police officer killed one man dead and left his brother wounded.

First Assistant Prosecutor Doris Galuchie said it started with several men in a fight at about 9:50pm Saturday in the 500 block of Roosevelt Street, near W. Ingham Avenue.

She said "Constantine Toe, 30, was shot in the hand while disarming his brother, Alfred Toe, 34, of a handgun."

Then, "an armed off-duty Trenton police officer drew his gun, ordered Constantine Toe to the ground, and confiscated the firearm in his possession. While the officer had his own gun in one hand and the gun taken from Toe in the other, Alfred Toe attempted to gain control of one of the weapons. During the struggle, Alfred Toe was shot once in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital."

Constantine Toe was taken to the hospital, but his condition hasn't been released.

The officer, whose name was not released, was apparently not injured.
