Duncan Hines recalls popular cake mixes over salmonella concerns

Certain cake mixes by Duncan Hines have been recalled due to salmonella concerns.

Salmonella was discovered in a retail sample of Duncan Hines Classic White cake mix, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Conagra Brands is working with health officials to determine whether it is linked to a salmonella outbreak that is being investigated by the Centers for Disease Control and the FDA.

Conagra issued the voluntary recall for the Classic White cake mix, as well as, Classic Butter Golden, Signature Confetti and Classic Yellow. The FDA said there have been five reported illnesses due to salmonella, and some of the individuals ate the cake mix prior to becoming ill.

It's possible that some may have consumed the products raw. Federal health officials want to remind consumer not to eat raw batter.

The products within the voluntary recall were distributed in the U.S. and limited international exports. The specific product information can be found below:
