Elderly subway rider kicked, punched in face
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Police in New York have arrested a man seen in video punching and kicking an elderly woman sitting on a subway train. Video of the heinous attack was captured by other straphangers.
Police have arrested Marc Gomez, 36, of Yonkers in connection with the case. He faces assault and harassment charges.
The 78-year-old victim was seen sitting alone as the man walked up to her and unleashed his assault.
The incident took place on a northbound No. 2 train at around 3:10 a.m. on Sunday March 10.
The train stopped at Nereid Ave. in the Bronx when the man yelled at the woman and began the attack. Video showed the man kick her in the face and body at least six times before he before turned to a phone being used to record the attack. He shouted, "WorldStar that, my n *@#a -- a reference to the popular site for violent videos.
He then got off of the train.
EMS treated the woman at the Wakefield-241st Street Station after a bystander notified police. She had bleeding and swelling with cuts to her face.
