Fatal crash in Winslow Twp. caused by speed

This is the aftermath of a horrific crash caused by speed - according to investigators.

Police say sometime after 4 a.m., the driver of this Honda Accord was flying through Berlin, NJ -- he raced down cross keys road turned left onto Chews Landing Road -- and failed to negotiate a curve near Sicklerville Road.

Police say the driver nailed a utility pole - it split in half.

The roof and driver side doors ripped off and the man was thrown from the car.

Investigators say he died at the scene.

Dan Cook from Winslow Township said, "You hear sirens up and down the road all the time it's not that out of the ordinary."

Cook lives behind the Winslow Township crash scene - he says there are accidents here all the time.

"Every intersection is dangerous when it's only one vehicle involved - driver error."

Police say no one else was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Investigators searched the car and found various belongings including bright green shrubs - still intact - sticking out the back of the vehicle.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation.

Detectives are now working to determine where this man was headed and what led up to the crash.
