Search and recovery efforts are ongoing after heavy rain and deadly flash flooding swept across Central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend.

FOX has donated to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, and is encouraging viewers to help those impacted by the disaster.

A donation supports relief and rebuilding efforts.

Texas flooding

Big picture view:

Unusually heavy rains quickly turned into flash flooding in the early hours of the Fourth of July in Central Texas, and flash flooding risks continuing into the weekend into the Austin area.

At least 78 people across the state were killed, and the death toll is likely to rise. Several more people were still unaccounted for Sunday and search operations were ongoing.

Gov. Greg Abbott warned that additional rounds of heavy rains lasting into Tuesday could produce more life-threatening flooding.

President Donald Trump signed a major disaster declaration Sunday for Kerr County, activating the Federal Emergency Management Agency to Texas. "These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing," Trump posted on social media.

He was expected to visit the state later this week.
