Hank's Take: Pussywillow Court sign stolen 5 times in a year

The sign on top of this post is supposed to read "Pussywillow Court." But it doesn't - because it keeps getting stolen. My take is, when your Mom finds out about this you are in so much trouble.

Washington Township Police said it's happened five times in a year. Somebody's having a goof but Hillcrest resident Doug Stewart's not laughing.

"Well I think it's horrible… they shouldn't be stealing our signs. I mean signs are part of road safety," said Stewart.

The bare post marks the spot at 639 and Pussywillow Court in Washington where the signs keep vanishing.

The one a block away is in place, but it's welded on. When police put the word out Saturday the comments flowed, mostly saying "change the name." But it's public property and it costs money to replace.

Phil Maldonato of "Signs by L and L" says people love stealing signs for a hundred reasons, but when it's Pussywillow Court - come on.

"Nah… other than the name and somebody being goofy - like I said - people steal stop signs - yield signs - and people just want to put it in their garage - their bedroom - basement - rec room - whatever the case may be - that's it," said Maldonato.

Stefanie Taylor added that there was no pussywillow in stock - it's a spring flower - she said - so there's none anywhere - least of all up on the signpost. Apparently the signs at Uranus Road disappear a lot too - get it? Uranus?

Look, Pussywillow Court is a great name for a street. But if you're not going to weld the thing in place - you better make another couple dozen. Because they're going to keep walking off. I'm Hank - and that's my take.
