Karate instructor charged with rape, child sex abuse

A karate instructor in Delaware is charged with several counts of rape and sexual abuse, and detectives say there may be other alleged victims.

New Castle County police report they just learned about the allegations against Carlos Villa in March, but they go back years.

They say "a victim disclosed to a trusted adult that Carlos touched her inappropriately multiple times between December 2010 and March 2011" and that adult contacted detectives.

Then, "investigators learned of another incident involving a family member."

Authorities are not releasing any more information due to the sensitivity of this case and in consideration of the victims.

Villa, 28 of Newark, is charged with two counts of first degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, three counts of second degree rape, and one count of first degree rape.

He's being held in the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $220,000 bail, and ordered to have no contact with accusers.

Meanwhile, anyone with information on possible other alleged victims are asked to contact Det. Herrera-Cortes of the Criminal Investigation Unit at 302-395-8110 or click here to e-mail.
