Love Park granite keepsake sales on hold due to permission of likeness issue

PHILADELPHIA (AP/WTXF) - Love Park granite block keepsakes are no longer being sold because of a permission of likeness issue.

The city sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience and they hope to resolve the issue quickly in order to make the blocks available for purchase before the holidays.

The people of Philadelphia are showing some love for a small granite keepsake from the city's original Love Park.

The blocks feature an engraved design similar to the iconic Robert Indiana LOVE sculpture now being restored along with the park, which is undergoing a major makeover.

The city put 250 up for sale Friday at a Christmas market at the site. A long line quickly formed, and the city says it's exploring having more made.

The mementos of granite salvaged from the original park are selling for $50 apiece, with a limit of two per customer.

Love Park was an internationally known destination for skateboarders. A large amount of granite was saved for use in other skate parks, and the city says keepsake sales will in part benefit their upkeep.
