Man, 18, charged in hit-and-run death of gas station attendant

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A suspect has been arrested and charged in the hit-and-run death of a gas station attendant last month in New Jersey.

The Mercer County prosecutor's office says 18-year-old Nasir Reed of Trenton is charged with death by auto and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with a fatality.

Prosecutors said 35-year-old Charles Nevius of Hamilton was struck Feb. 19 as he was trying to stop a car that had struck a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the Quick Check in Lawrence Township. He died at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Prosecutors said surveillance video and a tip led authorities to the suspect and his vehicle. A listed number for Reed couldn't be found Monday and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
