Man, 72, dead after fire at senior living apartment complex
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in New Jersey have released the name of a man who died in a fire at a senior living apartment complex in Newark.
The Essex County prosecutor's office and Newark public safety officials say the blaze at St. Mary's Villa apartments was reported at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities said 72-year-old William Fulmore was found unresponsive in an apartment in the complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward.
Firefighters reported no other injuries at the complex, which is made up of two five-story buildings totaling 360 units.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the prosecutor's crime scene investigations bureau, which includes city police and fire department detectives.
