A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after police say he was shot in a drive-by shooting in Philadelphia's Summerdale neighborhood.

The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. Thursday night on the 5800 block of Summerdale Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene after receiving numerous calls about a shooting and arrived on scene to find the victim lying next to the open driver side door of a Volvo, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center, and police say it is not yet known whether or not he will survive.

Investigators tell FOX 29 three shots were fired from a large caliber weapon, and three shell casings were found in the intersection of Summerdale and East Cheltenham.

The driver was heading south on Summerdale and stopped at a light, when police say a white vehicle pulled up and fired multiple shots out of their own driver side window, into the victim's driver side window.
