Man killed in hit and run on Rt. 73, suspect in custody

A man has died after police say he was struck by a hit and run driver in Burlington County, New Jersey Friday morning.

The incident occurred just after 12:30 a.m. on Route 73 near Laurel Lanes in Maple Shade.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find a man unconscious on the highway, and transported him to the hospital with serious injuries. The victim later died.

Police later confirmed the man was hit by a car, and the driver of the car kept going, but was eventually taken into custody by police.

The victim has been identified as Julian J. Sanchez, 27, of Pine Hill, NJ. Police have notified his next of kin.

The driver of the motor vehicle responded to a nearby police station and did cooperate with the Maple Shade Police. There are no charges filed at this time.
