Man performs CPR on puppies rescued from house fire

An Oklahoma animal control officer performed life-saving CPR on three puppies caught in a house fire.

It happened Friday in the town of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

The puppies were rescued from the house fire. Fort Gibson Fire Department officials say no one was home when the fire broke out.

"They brought me one puppy. It was limp. I started CPR," Fort Gibson Animal Control Officer Chris Brassfield said.

Brassfield said he just went with his instincts and had no hesitation.

"I mean it was a little gross but, you know, you just kinda gotta do what you're hired to do," he said with a chuckle.

He didn't want to take all of the credit, saying firefighters, police officers, and even a mail carrier helped in the rescue.

In a Facebook post, the Ft. Gibson Police Department thanked everyone who helped save the tiny souls.

"The three puppies were revived and given oxygen and are now doing fine thanks to the quick actions and response by Officer Brassfield and the assistance of the Fireman and the bystanders," the post read.

Police said firefighters contained the fire and were able to save most of the home.
