Man wanted in NJ armed robbery spoke with British accent

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ (WTXF) - There's an armed robber on the loose and it's not what he said to the victim - but how he said it - that may help lead to his arrest.

New Jersey State Police don't know if it was real, saying, "Maybe the accent was fake, and maybe it wasn't."

They reported the victim was waiting at a bus stop, late Monday morning, on Route 9 and Ash Road in Bass River Township, Burlington County.

That's when two men in a dark-colored SUV pulled over and asked for directions. While talking, the passenger pulled out a black revolver and demanded money. The victim gave his wallet, containing $150. Then, the robbers drove away.

Police said the car may have been a Hyundai Santa Fe with tinted windows and damage to the driver's side rear bumper. The license plate was white, possibly a New Jersey temporary tag, or an Ohio or North Carolina registration.

The driver was described as in his 30s and the passenger in his mid to late 30s -- who spoke with a British accent. Police released a composite sketch of him.
