Melbourne man plans to spend 2016 eating only potatoes
(STORYFUL) - A Melbourne man has embarked on a year of eating nothing but potatoes, documenting his experiences on YouTube and Facebook.
In the first video posted to his YouTube channel, Spud Fit, Andrew Taylor, 35, described himself as the heaviest he's ever been at 151.7 kilograms (about 334 pounds).
Never heard of potato pancakes until yesterday. Here's my first attempt at a spud pancake! The boy loves it to :-)
He said he decided to eat only one kind of food to try to address his self-diagnosed food addiction.
Taylor said he chose potatoes because his research suggested a potato has "everything a body needs", and because they are very cheap.
Taylor most recently posted a video on February 1, day 32 of his potato challenge.
Taylor said eating only potatoes helped him avoid binge eating, because his meals now had no flavor.
"Things are different now because on the potato diet…it's not this crazy, amazing food that's triggering all these pleasure centres in my brain and fireworks going off in my head and there's a party in my mouth…it's not that any more, I'm just eating," he said.
