Michigan dog shot twice in the head with crossbow bolt

A Michigan dog is recovering after it was found a crossbow arrow through his head and thousands of dollars have been raised for the family's vet bill to remove the arrow.

In a post to the Port Huron, Michigan Facebook Group, Tammy Lortt shared shocking images of the dog, who can be seen with the arrow through his head.

Tammy said the dog was shot with two different crossbow bolts and whoever did it,e ven took the tip off the bolt after shooting the dog.

The dog broke loose but was wearing a collar with owner information on it.

The dog, named Marty, went to the vet for treatment and is now healing, but will be under a vet's care for a bit longer. The post has been shared thousands of times on the Facebook page, and thousands of times from Tammy's page as well.

They set up a GoFundMe account to raise $10,000 for vet bills. That total was exceeded in just three days.

According to the GoFundMe page, the dog was missing when it was subzero temperatures for a couple weeks and police believe the dog was being held. Police also believe he may have been chained while being shot with the bolts.

Police told the family that they have a written confession from someone and are awaiting an arrest warrant.

The money will be used to pay the bills, putting up a kennel to keep the dog from escaping, and the rest will be donated to a local animal shelter and the vet's office.
