Montco DA: Dismiss Cosby Petition
WTXF - The district attorney of Montgomery County has responded to a motion from Bill Cosby's attorneys that the charges against the comedian be dismissed. District Attorney Kevin Steele has asked the court to dismiss, without prejudice, Cosby's motion.
Steele, in a statement, accused Cosby's attorneys of seeking "special treatment" for their client, and of "seeking to distract from the allegations against him by attacking the District Attorney's office."
In the motion, filed January 11, Cosby's attorneys contended that Cosby was given assurances by previous district attorney Bruce Castor that he would not be prosecuted. He also sought to remove Steele from the case.
Cosby was arrested December 30 and charged with aggravated indecent assault, in connection with a case from 2005.
