Bucks County residents receive assistance after historic flooding

Clean up efforts are continuing in Bucks County, and a number of agencies are offering a helping hand this week.

As clean-up efforts continue for Lower Bucks residents hit hard by last week's storms and flooding are getting more assistance Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Red Cross, United Way, and other agencies will come together both days in the cafeteria of Keystone Elementary School in Croydon from 2 to 7 p.m.

"It’s tough for us to see what the impact is to our community. It’s important for us to bring the right resources to the table so that they have a place to go," Bucks County Director of Emergency Services Audrey Kenny said.

The gathering comes just over a week after severe storms brought what the National Weather Service has estimated to be a 100-year flood to parts of the county.

Despite 250 homes and businesses impacted in Bensalem, 80 in Bristol Borough and 450 in Bristol Township, the flood disaster doesn't meet the $19.6 million in damages to receive flood aid from FEMA.
