New York woman gives birth to 15-pound baby girl: 'It was pretty violent'
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A woman from upstate New York recently gave birth to a 15 lb. 5 oz. baby girl.
The child was a double 'miracle," according to mother Joi Buckley. She was given only a 15 percent chance of conceiving.
"My primary doctor figured it out. I had diabetes. Once my sugar was under control I was able to conceive," Buckely told FOX5NY.COM.
But in June of last year, Buckely was in a serious car crash. At the time, she did not know she was pregnant with Harper.
Joi and Norman Buckley welcomed Harper on Mar. 11, 2019 via C-section. The girl is the second biological child for the Corning, New York, couple and the third in total. They are also parents to a seven-year-old adopted daughter.
The biological children were conceived naturally.
"It's something that I always wanted to do," said Buckley about becoming a mother.
Harper is the biggest baby ever born at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
"They're saying (she'll stay here) another week but it just depends on her and how she is improving," said Joi Buckley.
