Officials seek public's help on the 15th anniversary of New Jersey woman's strangulation death

LAKEWOOD, NJ (WTXF) - On the 15 th anniversary of a New Jersey woman's strangulation death, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is asking for the public's assistance with any information related to her death.

According to a press release, 31-year-old Gabrielle Mueller's body was discovered on April 3, 2001 in a wooded area off Salem Street in Lakewood, New Jersey.

The area is close to Lakewood Industrial Park.

Mueller lived in Toms River with her two children.

She was last seen alive during the evening hours of Sunday, April 1, 2001.

The next day, Toms River Police were contacted and Mueller was reported as a Missing Person. The following day, her body was found in Lakewood.

Her blue Toyota Corolla was also unaccounted for at that time, but was found in Lakewood the day after her body was discovered.

An autopsy revealed that Mueller died as a result of strangulation and her death was classified a homicide.

Since then, OCPO and law enforcement have not developed any significant clues pointing to those responsible for Mueller's death.

However, in a press release, officials state that they "will never stop seeking justice for Gabrielle and her loved ones."

"OCPO's Cold Case Unit investigators serve as advocates for victims in unsolved cases regardless of how much time has passed, working to bring peace to the loved ones of an individual who was senselessly killed or is missing," the press release states.
