Pennsylvania man hid spy cameras in bathroom to record ex-girlfriend's daughters: DA

A disturbing invasion of privacy involving two teenage girls was discovered by their mother, who is also the former girlfriend of the suspected perpetrator.

What we know:

John V. Dutton, 55, pleaded guilty after officials say he hid spy cameras to record his ex-girlfriend's daughters taking showers in the bathroom of their Bristol Township home.

In August 2023, the girls' mother found a camera disguised as a USB cell phone charging port, and positioned with a view of the shower.

The device went missing after she unplugged it and said Dutton was in the bathroom for an "unusually" long time.

Another camera was later found in the pool cabana area in the back of the house.

Dig deeper:

During a search of the home, police recovered videos of the girls undressing and showering from February 2021 to March 2023 on Dutton's cell phone.

His iCloud account also revealed 261 audio and video recordings of both girls being partially or fully nude in the bathroom.

Methamphetamine was also found in the house during the search.

What they're saying:

Dutton's ex-girlfriend, and mother to the victims, told police when she first became suspicious of the suspect.

"He insisted that they either not have a shower curtain in their common bathroom, or they have a clear curtain," according to a report.

What's next:

Dutton has pleaded guilty to six counts of invasion of privacy, two counts of interception of oral communications, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

He will be sentenced at a later date, which has yet to be announced.
