Lena speaks:

"The sound I heard last night was terrible. In my life I never heard this kind of sound. My ears still buzzing. I was driving five minutes before. I could’ve been here if I was driving."

"I was in my living room, I felt like my house broke. I ran outside, saw my neighbor and he was like, ‘Are you guys ok?’ He said, ‘Look at the sky.’ I said, ‘Oh what’s happened to the sky?’ I look and it was all cloudy smoky, I was smelling gas. I got so scared I went in."

Angelique speaks:

Angelique also lives nearby and she’s still in disbelief. She says the crash happened along the same route that her niece travels to and from work every day. But yesterday she worked late.

"Just imagine she got off late yesterday? If she didn’t get off late yesterday, she could’ve been in this."

"It’s just wild to see a big ball of fire. I’m on Cottman Ave all the time. I’m in that mall all the time. I can’t imagine the people up here just in pure shock of what is going on here."

Big picture view:

Angelique and Lena say they needed to return to the scene once the sun came up to see the shocking aftermath for themselves and seek answers. While Lena is physically ok, she says she and her neighbors are hurting mentally and emotionally.
