Philly Police officer involved in crash in Olney

PHILADELPHIA, PA (WTXF) - First responders rushed to Olney following a motor vehicle crash involving a Philadelphia Police officer.

The accident happened on 7:09 p.m. pm at the intersection of Front Street and Champlost Ave.

We are told that an officer assigned to the 35th District was responding to an assist at 21st Street and Conlyn.

The officer was traveling westbound on Champlost Ave and clearing the intersection when a black Ford Expedition traveling southbound on Front Street, stuck the marked unit's front end and forced the vehicle into a telephone pole.

According to officials, the officer was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.

Occupants of the Ford Expedition were also taken to Albert Einstein Hospital. They have reported neck and back pains from the accident.

The scene is currently being held as investigators are working to learn more information.
