Pilot lands high up in tree, spends 12 hours there

The pilot of an ultra-light aircraft in Germany spent more than 12 hours stuck up a tree after rescuers were not able to reach him overnight.

Police in the southwestern state of Baden-Wuerttemberg said the unidentified man crash-landed in the tree late Monday, about 19 miles east of Stuttgart.

Attempts to bring the man down from his lofty perch 98 feet above ground had to be abandoned at nightfall because of the risk the plane and pilot might be dislodged and fall to the ground, police said.

The 59-year-old was eventually rescued unharmed Tuesday.
