Police district teams up with Walmart to donate 168 bikes to local kids

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A Philadelphia police district has teamed up with Walmart to donate dozens of bicycles to local children, just in time for Christmas!

In total, 168 bikes will be given out Wednesday at the 26th District's Annual Christmas Party.

Police officers in the district say that while their job can be difficult and demanding, opportunities to give back to the community and put a smile on some faces make it all worth it.

"It's one of those days where you're just excited to be a part of the police department and give these kids a little something to take home that shows them that the Philadelphia Police Department, as well as their community, really supports them and wants them to have a great holiday season," explained Captain Krista Dell-Campbell.

Twelve schools in the 26th district selected students they believed would benefit the most from having a new bike.
