Police: Estimated $3 million in property stolen from Drake's tour bus in Phoenix

The briefcase full of bling stolen from Drake's tour bus has been found and the man accused of stealing it has been arrested.

The briefcase reportedly contained $3 million worth of jewelry and was taken while Drake was performing Tuesday night at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix.

It didn't take long for police to crack the case. Less than 24 hours since this crime was committed, police made an arrest and the suspect is at the Fourth Avenue Jail.

Even though it may seem like a clear cut case, police say it was a little more complicated than you might believe.

Through working with performers, the Talking Stick Area, security and surveillance, Phoenix Police say they were able to track down Travion King, the 21-year-old suspected of robbing Drake's tour bus.

"The suspect was able to walk on to the tour bus and remove a briefcase that contained reportedly $3 million worth of property, jewelry and such and leave," said Sgt. Vince Lewis.

Police say they were able to get a good look at the suspect from security footage, but were unable to access King's information in their system because he was simultaneously being booked by another department.

"He was trespassing over on Tempe's main campus, was arrested by ASU police and was in the process of being transferred and then booked into MCCJ," explained Lewis.

Police also believe King could have been a contracted worker who had previous knowledge of the venue.

"He's got some experience backstage, may have been comfortable enough to know where to go and what time to be there to commit the theft that he did," said Lewis.

With King behind bars less than 24 hours after the crime, police say it's not special treatment for a celebrity, but rather hard work and a little bit of luck.

"I know that there are a lot of people who are sitting at home wondering, hey where's my case in the stack right now? How come this person's case is getting solved? Well, it just so happened that we came across that person and made an arrest in this case, but if you're waiting for Phoenix police to solve your case, we never give up and we never forget," said Lewis.

King was booked on the trespassing charge until police discovered his whereabouts. He has since been rebooked on his new charge.
