Police search for gunmen in string of armed robberies near train stations

Police in Delaware County are searching for a trio of armed robbers they say are robbing commuters as they walk to and from their trains.

Investigators say there have been three incidents so far in Upper Darby in a matter of days, and all three suspects were armed with guns.

The most recent incident occurred Tuesday night when police say the suspects approached a man who had just gotten off the train at Parkview Station. In that incident, police say the suspects took the victim's phone, money, hoodie, and belt.

Just a few days earlier, another man was held up in the same spot as he got off of a SEPTA train.

Last Friday a woman fought back as she was robbed of her phone at the Chestnut Street parking lot.

Police are alerting residents that nothing is worth your life.

"If they get your phone and they take your money and they take your clothing, so be it. It's three to one. Unless you're armed and you're good, I would give it up," Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

Some of the victims tell police the suspects were wearing masks, but investigators are hopeful they can obtain a further description.
