Police search for suspect in Olney food store robbery

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Police say they are searching for a man who robbed a corner food store and deli on the 100 block of West Chew Avenue in the city's Olney section.

It happened on Tuesday, October 25.

Police say a man entered the corner food store and deli and approached the counter. According to police, he pulled a handgun from a black tote bag pointing it at an employee, a 58-year-old male, demanding money from the cash register. Investigators say when the suspect grew impatient he went behind the counter taking an unknown amount of money from the register drawer. While behind the counter a second employee, a 59- year-old female, ran out of the store yelling for help, according to police.

Authorities say the suspect then fled firing one shot towards the store and was last seen north on the 5700 block of North Howard Street. There were no injuries reported during this incident.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old man with medium complected, full beard, stocky build, wearing a white/ gray/black camouflage hat, two tone blue/gray jacket with an Adidas logo and dark colored striped on the sleeves, dark colored pants, black sneakers, and carrying a black tote bag.
