Police: Woman takes city vehicle for joyride

Police say a woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a city vehicle.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 1200 block of Walnut Street in Center City.

According to police, 33-year-old Amanda Bonner told workers that she had to go to the bathroom and that she was going to urinate in between their trucks. Instead, investigators say, she got into a vehicle and drove off on Walnut Street.

Police say a worker chased the vehicle on foot while his co-worker followed the stolen vehicle in another city vehicle and called police while giving the vehicle's direction to the 911

They caught up with the stolen vehicle at the red light at 16th and Locust Streets. Police arrived and took Bonner in custody.

Bonner has been charged with theft and other related offenses.
