Quick-thinking officer saves driver after crash

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) A Philadelphia police officer is being hailed a hero tonight after his quick-thinking saved a man's life in a matter of seconds.

Officer Joel Rice was driving near Broad Street and Belfield Avenue when he saw a car crash. Rice rushed to one of the cars involved when he saw the driver slumped behind the wheel and unconscious.

Police say Rice got the driver out of the car in the nick of time. As soon as he did, the car burst into flames.

That driver is in the hospital and authorities say he'll be OK.
