Route 1 reopens after deadly wrong way crash

Route 1 was shut down in New Castle County, Delaware Friday morning after a deadly wrong-way crash involving a tractor-trailer.

The crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. Friday morning after police say a car traveling the wrong way down the highway collided with the tractor-trailer.

One person was killed as a result of the crash.

Both directions of the highway were closed between Route 13 and Route 40 as firefighters put out flames that broke out following the crash. SKYFOX was over the scene as crews continued to clean up the scene ahead of rush hour.

Both sides of the highway have since been reopened.

FOX 29's Bob Kelly suggests Route 7, Route 9, or Route 301 as alternates.
