Sisters Child Care Shut Down

Sisters Child Care was shuttered today- the doors padlocked. a man who answered the phone said they are closed. And now, the state Department of Human Services has shut down the facility.

"The Department of Human Services has issued an Emergency Removal at Sister Childcare 2," the department said in a statement. "This means we will be immediately closing the facility to help ensure the safety of the children in care. The department will attempt to contact each of the parents/family members, and will be onsite tomorrow morning to ensure the families are aware of the closure and to assist them in finding new care."

The police department's Special Victim Unit is investigating the suspicious death of a 10 month old baby girl who was in the center's care yesterday.

Right now, the health department says- her cause of death is still pending.

We have learned according to state documents- the day care center only has a provisional certificate at this time- after an inspection in July found numerous problems- 24 of them, like workers without the proper trainings- and background checks- working with too many children- in some cases triple the amount allowed by the state.

There were so many children- some staff members didn't even know the kids names, and were yelling at the children right in front of inspectors.

When investigators returned for a follow-up on October- 5 of the issues were resolved- and there were at least plans to correct the other 19.

Somehow yesterday- something went horribly wrong- and police say- the day care provider performed CPR on a little girl- who died a short time later at Temple Hospital.
